Camp Toolangi is part of Bindaree Outdoor Education Services which is a private company based in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs with a proud 30-year history specializing and delivering quality outdoor education programs to schools and corporate groups throughout Victoria.

Camp Toolangi is located in the beautiful Yarra Valley and can accommodate up to 147 people.

The majority of clients for Camp Toolangi is primary to secondary schools partaking in three to five-day programs onsite, the rest of the year is filled with a growing clientele base from community and sporting groups from all around Melbourne.

Camp Toolangi is seeking an exceptional and experienced Client/Operations Manager with proven client management experience and high attention to detail to join our passionate, fun, dynamic and skilled team.

As the Client/Operations Manager you will work closely with the Camp Manager to ensure the delivery of quality camp programs with exceptional customer experiences. This role offers a great variety of administration and hands on tasks across all parts of the business. The main focus of the position is creating strong client relationships, from the first point of contact through to implementing and overseeing the program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing and overseeing day to day camp operations
  • Client bookings, quoting and invoicing
  • Implementing and overseeing programs
  • Staying onsite overnight when clients are in residence
  • Debriefing and evaluating programs with clients and Camp Toolangi manager
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Responding to client enquiries
  • Assisting catering and maintenance staff
  • Assisting and managing activity staff and occasionally operating activities such as High/low ropes, climbing tower, canoeing, flying fox and archery.
  • Input into continued development of activities and facilities
Key Selection Criteria
  • Experience in outdoor education programs in residential camping or journey-based program settings
  • Proven ability to manage a small staff team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills  
  • Organisational and planning skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Tertiary or TAFE qualifications in Outdoor Education/Recreation or equivalent industry experience
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Proven experience or qualifications in outdoor educational activities – high/low Ropes, Canoeing, Mountain Biking for example.
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current manual drivers license
