Program Coordinator

About Lake Dewar Lodge

Lake Dewar Lodge YMCA is located on 250 acres of bushland near Myrniong approximately 13km west of Bacchus Marsh. The Lodge features a mix of accommodation options sleeping up to 150 people.  Our core business is the provision of camping and outdoor programs to a range of user groups.

Key Elements of the Role 

As the Program Coordinator, you will undertake duties required to ensure all camp programs and associated functions are carried out effectively and efficiently. This hands on role will see the successful applicant working daily with our groups. This position is a leadership role. You will have the responsibility for supervising, directing and training program staff, volunteers and fieldwork placement students as well as working directly in the program. on is available in both a part-time and casual capacity.

  • Highly developed verbal communication and organisational skills

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in the delivery of outdoor recreation programs involving young people in residential camping or journey-based program setting
  • Demonstrated group leadership experience
  • Experience in leading a staff team, providing direction, delivering training and coaching others ?

Mandatory Pre-Requisite Qualifications

  • CPR, Level 2 First Aid,
  • Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation or equivalent as a minimum Tertiary qualification
  • Water skills and awareness in a group setting
  • High Ropes Conductor Course and Level 1 Flat Water Canoe or Kayak Award (desirable) ?

YMCA, including Boards of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

  • a national criminal history check
  • an international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas
  • holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws
  • ACF Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (completion online prior to commencement)
  • Two reference checks

 Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.
