Group Leader

Job Description

Job Title:         Group Leader

Reporting to:   Director of Operations

Salary              $44150 - $57 395 FTE per year depending on experience and qualifications.

Hours:             This is part time position which equates to 70%^ of a full time load or 182.7 working days/year. These are a combination of administration, preparation and field days^^. Work is mostly weekdays, but may include weekends, public and school holidays, (limitations apply)*

Purpose of the position:

Group Leaders work with our client groups, (both primary and secondary students), leading outdoor journeys and activities. They are supported by logistic teams and program co-ordinators to implement quality Outdoor Education programs in various locations across the State.

Key responsibilities and duties

A position is available for a motivated professional who can show initiative and work independently as well as part of a team. The person needs to be well presented and have good communication and leadership skills.

Leading outdoor activities at a base camp venue

Assist with general duties at camp venues

Good organisational skills, logistic, team oriented approach

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation/Outdoor Leadership or equivalent experience
  • Current Working with Children Card
  • Current Remote area or Leader’s Wilderness First Aid certificate
  • Manual driver’s license (or ability to obtain)
Work experience and skills:

Highly desirable:

  • Demonstrated field experience as a group leader/instructor in a range of locations
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills
  • Well developed communication and teamwork skills
  • Skills in a minimum of two adventure activities to a ‘Guide or Lead’ standard (eg Bushwalk in trackless areas, Raft on Grade III, Top Rope Climber, Flatwater canoe Guide)

^ The time fraction is open to negotiation depending on the individual’s availability at crucial times.
