Bindaree Outdoor Education Services are delighted to announce we have new contract field positions available for 2021. These roles are perfect for staff who want a flexible year to work elsewhere over winter combined with integrating a fantastic organisation with stepping stones into management in the Outdoor education sector.

We are seeking motivated and passionate team members who have a love for the great outdoors and excellent service delivery to join our passionate, dynamic, fun and skilled team.

Bindaree Outdoor Education is a private company based in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs with a proud 30-year young history specializing and delivering quality outdoor education programing to school and corporate groups throughout Victoria.

Bindaree Outdoor Education works mainly with secondary schools to deliver sequential, progressive and educational outdoor camp programs. Bindaree Outdoor Education is regarded as an industry leader through our contributions towards the development of the Outdoor Education Industry in the southern states of Australia. Bindaree also owns and operates a residential campsite, Camp Toolangi, who services both primary and secondary school groups, and has a growing community and sporting group clientele base as well as a journey-based sister company based in the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales.

The role has been established to give the employee an all-round understanding of outdoor education programs.

Position: FIXED TERM FIELD STAFF POSITION - different loadings available
  • 60%-75% Field based program work in a variety of roles
  • 25%-35% Factory based program organisation, maintenance and assistance work    
  • 05%-15% Office based program planning assistance, training and induction allocation    
0.80 Loading

Overall Period: Fixed Term Contracted Period spanning from Monday 8th February 2021 until Friday 17th December 2021*.

  • Please note that there is a break in contracted employment dates from Saturday 12th June until Sunday 29th August 2021 making up the other 0.20 loading.
0.70 Loading

Overall Period: Fixed Term Contracted Period spanning from Monday 8th February 2021 until Friday 17th December 2021*.

  • Please note that there is a break in contracted employment dates from Saturday 15th May until Sunday 29th August 2021 making up the other 0.30 loading.
0.65 Loading

Overall Period: Fixed Term Contracted Period spanning from Monday 1st March 2021 until Friday 17th December 2021*.

  • Please note that there is a break in contracted employment dates from Saturday 15th May until Sunday 29th August 2021 making up the other 0.35 loading.

Head Office location: Factory 6/ 381 Bayswater Road, Bayswater, VIC 3153 

Remuneration: $42,000.00 to $62,300.00 per annum pro rata based on EA level + superannuation + leave conditions

There will be significant opportunities for additional future employment for successful applicants.

Applicants must hold a minimum of:
  • Valid Working With Children Check
  • First Aid Level 2 (Many programs require Remote Area or higher due to location)
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Completed Cert IV in Outdoor Recreation or higher (only select roles are open to staff still completing their studies)

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA 
  1. Outdoor Activity Leadership - Demonstrate your experience and qualifications in the widest range of outdoor based activity skills and activity leadership.
  2. First Aid and Emergency Response - Demonstrate your qualifications and experience in remote area first aid and your experience in relation to the high-quality emergency response systems.   
  3. Knowledge of Regional Program and Activity Areas - Demonstrate your knowledge and work in the widest range of regional program and activity areas.  
  4. Leadership - Demonstrate your experience in the area of leading teams, and individuals in an outdoor and/or business context.
  5. Self-Management - Demonstrate your ability to manage your own time, task schedule, workloads and work-life balance.
  6. Conflict Resolution and Peer Performance - Demonstrate your ability and experience in managing difficult individuals both within your own team and client staff, both in the field and in an administrative context.
  7. Any Other Relevant Employment Attributes - Please feel free to record any other relevant employment attribute or attach any documentation that could benefit your application.
