0.8 Group Leader/Program Director

Southbound Adventures would like to invite those looking for an exciting, energetic work environment to apply for the permanent Group Leader/Program Director position. This role is primarily a field-based role and may include working on site based and wilderness settings for up to 9 days in duration.

  • Starting off as a Group Leader to build on skills and learn the company operations.
  • Assistant Program Director
  • Duke of Edinburgh Team Leader
  • Effectively facilitate and deliver Outdoor Education Programs for students aged between 7-18 including pre-program preparation, logistics, on program logistic and post program follow up with clients
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with clients and students.
  • Ability to adapt to changing client needs & environmental conditions
  • Ability to manage risk in an Outdoor Environment
  • Assist with school presentations to students, staff and parents
  • Assist with team field inductions
  • Assist with the delivery of educational outcomes
  • Assist in management of gear store and office complex
  • Assist in general office administration and organisation
  • Assist key management staff in preparing for outdoor programs
  • Assist with repair of Outdoor Equipment
Applicants should display:
  • An enthusiastic attitude to your life and work
  • An ability to inspire other team members
  • An effective communicator with team members, teachers, parents and students
  • Provide leadership to other team members
  • An ability to manage an Outdoor Education program
  • A willingness to be a positive role model for students and accompanying team members
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including word, excel and access
  • High organised with ability to prioritize and manage work time efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Wilderness First Aid (or equivalent)
  • Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Outdoor Education Industry or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience in towing trailers
  • Mountain Biking Qualifications
  • Vertical Rescue Qualifications
  • Navigation Certification
  • Experience mentoring/supporting staff
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Previous experience delivering the Adventurous Journey component of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
  • Public Speaking skills
