Outdoor Education Leader

About the Role

The Outdoor Education Leader, along with the Head of Outdoor Education will facilitate high-quality, sequential learning opportunities for the whole school Outdoor Education Programme. The learning experiences are practical in nature and reflect contemporary educational thought and research.

The Outdoor Education Leader is responsible for facilitating learning activities for students, largely in the outdoors, and contributes to supporting an environment that fosters social and emotional teaching and learning.

The programs include key learning concepts and activities taught predominately in the natural environment through expedition and base camping style experiences. The learning outcomes may be achieved through, but not limited to activities such as bushwalking, mountain biking, climbing, abseiling, kayaking, canoeing, remote-environment navigation, and general expedition camping skills and knowledge.

About You

You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:

  • Certificate IV, in Outdoor Leadership with specialisation in at least three of the following areas (highly desirable);
    • Bushwalking
    • Navigation
    • Mountain Biking
    • Flat water canoeing/kayaking
    • Abseil natural surfaces
    • Climbing natural and artificial surfaces
    • Caving
  • Excellent written English and effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent technological literacy across a range of applications
  • Experience of at least three years working in the Outdoor Education industry
  • A current ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • Wilderness First Aid Certificate
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other members of the CGS Team
  • Current Light Rigid Drivers Licence – with the ability to drive a manual vehicle
  • Royal Life Saving Bronze Medallion or Surf Bronze

All team members at CGS are required to have:

  • Appropriate qualifications
  • A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • A current National Police Check; and
  • Full working rights within Australia.
