Infuse Travel is seeking a Camp Director for its outdoor education centre, Bayview Adventure Camp, near Phillip Island, VIC.
About Bayview
Bayview Adventure Camp is a residential camp and outdoor education centre that provides transformational learning experiences for young people. Located on a beautiful 75-acre property near Phillip Island overlooking Westernport Bay, the site accommodates up to 150 guests in cabins. Onsite activities include high ropes, low ropes, giant swing, mountain biking and canoeing, and the camp’s facilities include staff housing, dining halls, swimming pool and more.
Position Overview
As Camp Director, you are ultimately responsible for the daily operations and general management of Bayview Adventure Camp. Working alongside our Managing Director and Business Manager, your role encompasses a wide range of general management responsibilities spanning sales, customer service, people and culture, programming, hospitality, accounting, administration and client relationships.

Applicant Pre-Requisites
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- 7+ years employment in outdoor education/recreation
- 3+ years leadership and team management experience
Responsibilities
Area of Responsibility | Tasks |
General Management | Manage Bayview’s daily business operations across all aspects of the camp. Ensure Bayview operates at optimum levels of efficiency and productivity. Develop and implement strategic plans in consultation with the Business Manager and Managing Director. |
Sales | Respond to booking enquiries and provide quotes. Confirm reservations and manage the booking calendar to maximise occupancy rates. |
Client Relationship Management | Welcome guests and support check-in process. Build and maintain professional relationships with teachers and group coordinators. Host prospective guests during site visits. |
Customer Service | Provide excellent level of customer service to all people. Establish rosters to ensure phones, emails and enquiries are answered promptly. Handle complaints effectively and escalate if required. Manage the on-call roster to ensure campers’ needs are met after hours and/or to respond to emergencies. |
Client Experience | Understand and assess clients’ needs prior to accepting bookings to ensure Bayview can meet or exceed their expectations. Oversee the client experience at Bayview to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Collect and review client feedback, measure net promoter score, identify areas for improvement and manage change. |
People & Culture | Manage full-time, part-time and casual program, hospitality and housekeeping staff. Rostering of staff across multiple teams. Manage the wellbeing, performance and professional development of staff. Recruit, interview and hire additional staff when necessary to meet operational requirements. Provide all staff with a safe, supportive and inclusive work environment that reflects the values of Bayview. Create a culture of continuous improvement that strives for excellence. Report any incidents, injuries or misconduct. Collaborate with the Site Manager to ensure all staff are trained on OH&S policies and procedures. Re-assign staff to the Site Manager during quiet periods to support maintenance, cleaning and other tasks as required. |
Programming | Establish and implement rosters to ensure program delivery complies with adventure activity standards. Provide staff with training, direction and expectations on program design, delivery and standard operating procedures. Refine and improve program design to position Bayview as one of Victoria’s leading outdoor education centres. |
Hospitality | Support our hospitality and housekeeping team leaders to ensure high quality catering, food service, accommodation and housekeeping. to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Oversee the housekeeping to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained. Report any issues with buildings or facilities to the Site Manager. |
Accounting | Submit fortnightly payroll data to our Accounts Manager. Assist with accounts payable and receivable if required. Financial reporting to management. |
Administration | Manage and/or delegate office administration tasks as required. Ordering office supplies, filing paperwork, archiving records. Issue pre-departure information and forms to clients. Other administration tasks as required. |
Time Allotment
Full time, 5 days per week
Ongoing employment after 6-month probation and successful performance review.
Remuneration
- Indicative base salary range AU$80,000 – 90,000, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
- 12% superannuation.
- Four weeks annual leave.
- Time in lieu and flexible working arrangements.
Location
Grantville, VIC.
Private onsite housing can be provided as part of the salary package.
