About the role
Halls Outdoor Education is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Outdoor Education professional to fill the role of Embedded Outdoor Education School Manager at one of our client schools. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role involves providing seamless organisation of outdoor education programs between the school and Halls Outdoor Education.
This is a full-time position with a 0.75 FTE allocation to the school and a 0.25 FTE allocation to other Halls Outdoor Education programs. This position will be based in Ivanhoe at the school and the Halls Outdoor Education base in Gembrook, with a requirement for regular travel to other locations across Victoria.
What you'll be doing
- Manage bookings, student group arrangements, and staff allocation for all outdoor education programs in collaboration with school staff.
- Facilitate briefing sessions for students, parents, and staff, and collect all medical and relevant documentation in a timely manner.
- Ensure programs align with risk assessment protocols and oversee their quality to meet organizational and educational standards.
- Conduct timely reviews of individual and annual programs with key staff and maintain accurate program documentation within the school calendar system.
- Brief school and Halls staff on their roles and responsibilities to ensure seamless program execution.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience in leading and coordinating outdoor education programs
- A minimum of Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership or equivalent experience
- Current Victorian Working with Children Check
- Current Remote or Wilderness First Aid certificate
- Medium rigid license (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
Desirable:
- Extensive experience in outdoor education program development and implementation, preferably within a school-based setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage students, parents, and staff
- Excellent organisational and management skills, with the ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines
- Qualifications in rafting, skiing and mountain biking
