Fixed-term Group Leaders - Special Offer!

***We are offering a paid month of work and training from Nov 18th to Dec 18th 2024***

Followed by a 12-month fixed term contract (6 months available for certain candidates)

This offer includes:

  • Onsite accommodation over the summer break OR $500 towards airfare or travel.
  • Uniforms and end of season function
  • A mix of training, activity familiarisation, program support & Logistics
  • Approx 40 hours per week
  • GL1 rate at $25.80/hr (plus overnight allowances as required)

Who we are:
  • Somerset has a proud history in the outdoor education space since 1981 and over that time we have employed 1000’s of people across all areas of operation.
  • Operating 2-6 day journey-style programs (including Duke of Ed) from our basecamp, utilising the River and surrounding bush.
  • Our seasons run from mid-January to beginning of June and Mid-July to Mid-December
  • Somerset is located 90mins from Sydney on the glorious Colo River.
  • We have over 20 fixed private campsites and over 20 activity areas that groups move between to complete their experience.
  • Groups are mostly in the Year 5-10 age group (11-17 years old).
What we offer:

Very competitive remuneration and conditions;

Typically, a full semester (6 month) work load would attract the following:

Fixed Term GL 2 Semester contract: ~ $30,200 $27.80 /hr +10% incentive

Accrued Annual leave Paid out: ~ $2300 varies on number of days worked over semester

Overnight Allowances: ~ $1200 average

Estimated Semester Earnings: ~ $33,700 a Full Year then being ~ $ 67,400 with ½ Dec, Jan and a large portion of June and July off

  • Fixed-term Level 2 Leader program day rate with overnight allowance reaching $452.87
  • Fixed-term Leader positions attract annual and personal leave.
  • Superannuation payments in accordance with legislation
  • We provide; all meals and tent accomm whilst on program; first aid kit and uniform; all required activity and campsite equipment and ongoing training and development.
  • A thorough familiarisation/training days to get you up-to-speed
  • Onsite accommodation options are available on a permanent or casual basis.

What Group Leaders require:
  • Certificate IV in Outdoor Rec / Leadership
  • NSW WWCC
  • Qualifications in canoeing or kayaking, bushwalking & abseil or climbing,
  • Remote or Wilderness First Aid (or the ability to acquire)
