Camp Somerset is seeking applicants for casual Outdoor Education Instructor positions starting in Term 3 of 2024. Senior Instructor and Team Leader positions are also available for the right applicants.
Owned and operated by the Seventh Day Adventist Conference, Camp Somerset runs both complex-based and expedition-based programs in the Somerset region, West of Brisbane. Our 1300-acre property has waterfront access to Lake Somerset and shares a boundary with D'Aguilar National Park.
With a focus on experiential learning, activities include several high ropes sites, canoeing and water-based activities, natural abseiling, hiking and mountain biking, and off-site expeditions, including mountain biking, hiking and canoeing. Our clientele ranges from year 4 to year 12 school-based programs to some youth group and church-based programs throughout the holidays, as well as the venue hosting private bookings for both our cabin accommodations and campsites during non-program times.
At Camp Somerset, we pride ourselves on fostering a supportive work environment that values each team member’s contribution and offers plenty of opportunities for growth, mentoring, and further upskilling.
We are looking for individuals who have a wealth of experience with Outdoor Education programming for school-age groups. Required qualifications include Cert IV in Outdoor Leadership or equivalent and First Aid (Wilderness First Aid desirable).
Our instructors are covered under the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award Grade 4.
