Absolute Outdoors

School Manager

Absolute Outdoors, based in Halls Gap, delivers activity-based programs to tourist and school groups throughout the Grampians Gariwerd National Park and its surrounding landscape. We pride ourselves on providing a high-quality, safe, fun, and educational experience for all involved. We are seeking a motivated and independent School Manager who is able to develop and deliver programs that meet and exceed the expectations of schools throughout Victoria and further afield.

The School Manager will report directly to the Gariwerd Operations Manager and work alongside other managers.  They are expected to work independently in liaising with schools, developing programs that meet their outcomes, creating resources for use by guides, overseeing the implementation of programs, and following up with schools. When required the school manager will be expected to act as Field Manager for larger programs.

It is expected that the School Manager has a strong understanding of school-based Outdoor Education and keeps up to date with current expectations and curriculum. The appropriate person should know how to develop programs that meet the learning and developing outcomes that today's students need. As the primary contact and liaison with a school, this person will need a strong understanding of how our activity products are delivered, and the limitations and flexibilities that we cater to.

It is expected that the School Manager works with the school to understand their program goals, and to develop any educational outcomes that we can provide within the scope of our activity sessions. This is an area that we can expand and grow, both developing new educational sessions, but also developing our own guide team to increase their own facilitation capabilities.

The school manager is expected to work independently on their own time with flexibility due to program requirements. Small school programs based on daily activity sessions, require minimal oversight allowing the School Manager to work elsewhere. When larger journey based programs occur, it is expected that the person is working as, or has appropriate staff, in-field providing Field Manager support to all the program guides and support staff.

With a growing business, along with the Grampians Peaks Walking Company, the School Manager has the opportunity to manage existing schools and to create and develop exciting new programs that challenge and grow today's and tomorrow's students.

Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
