If you answered a resounding yes! We have an exciting full time and permanent Programme Coordinator role now available within our Outdoor Education team.

Our Outdoor Education Programmes have been building strong kids, strong families and strong communities since 2006. We offer a range of outdoor education based activities from abseiling and kayaking to archery and team building, giant swing, high ropes, mountain biking and more. Our aim is to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment whereby people of all ages can increase their knowledge, awareness, skills and self-esteem. We currently hold OutdoorsMark accreditation for heights activities and Canyoning.

The day-to-day responsibility for this position includes, but not limited to:
  • Developing exciting new programmes, and reviewing our current suite of programmes
  • Managing the maintenance of quality equipment, structures, and resources
  • Instructing/leading programmes
  • Leading the team of Outdoor Instructors with the Programme Manager
Working at Y Central means being part of a committed and energetic team focussed on delivering excellent customer service. This means the ideal person for this position will be experienced in the following areas:
  • Building relationships with customers, colleagues, and team members
  • Designing and managing educational based programmes
  • Stakeholder management
  • Health and safety management in the outdoors
  • Team leadership
Y Central can offer:

  • A fully funded week long staff trip (usually held mid-season)
  • Subsidised accommodation at either of our bases (Kaitoke or Tongariro)
NZOIA Certification and/or a relevant tertiary qualification is required. We will consider applicants who are currently working towards NZOIA and who also have strong relevant experience.

The successful applicant will need to return a satisfactory Police Record Check before commencement of Employment.
