Optimum Experiences is a small, family-owned outdoor education business that has been operating around the South Coast and Southern Highlands region for 30 years. Optimum Experiences mission is to share camp and adventure experiences that enhance the lives of our clients and their appreciation of the outdoors. We envision a place and time where people can achieve things they never thought were possible for themselves and their community and learn from every new experience.

We are currently seeking passionate, responsible and dedicated outdoor education staff for

Term 1 (31st of  January - 8th of  April) and Term 2 (25th of April – 1st of July), 2022. With the opportunity to work throughout the year.

We currently run a wide variety of outcomes-based programs; these include.

Hard Top Camps, Expeditions, Leadership Programs, Wilderness Basecamps, Incursions, and Duke Of Edinburgh Journeys. 

These programs feature activities such as, Bushwalking, Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Mountain Biking, Canoeing and Kayaking and High Ropes

Positions Available:
  • Casual / freelance – Looking to fill gaps in their working calendar (enquire for specific program dates).
  • Casual Contract – Willing to commit to minimum 1 full term, Benefits include:

    • Staff accommodation for the full working period.
  • Full Time – A variety of full-time positions will be available, ranging from Junior Group Leader and Activity Staff positions to Senior Leadership positions.
  • We have recently reviewed all our Casual rates and are now offering competitive rates for both Activity Specialists and Group Leaders. Plenty of opportunities available to become a part of our full-time team.
  • Casual Day rates up to $430 dependent on qualifications, experience, and program type. 
  • Staff accommodation 
  • All meals during briefings and programs provided
Within These Roles You Will:
  • Support and facilitate learning through outdoor activities.
  • Operate activities to the highest safety standard to ensure client safety.
  • Challenge clients to work cohesively, while building a sense of community and striving for the desired outcomes.
  • Encourage and foster meaningful connections to the outdoor environment.
  • Educate clients on transferring skills to their everyday lives.
Applicants must hold a minimum of or be willing to obtain:
  • Completed Cert III in Outdoor Recreation or Higher.
  • Remote Area or Wilderness First Aid.
  • Valid NSW working with Children’s Check.
  • Current Driver License.
Preferred But not Necessary
  • Bus Licence LR
  • Experience working with young people.
  • Experience leading groups on overnight programs.


  • Experience Leading Specialised Activities (Rock Climbing, Abseiling, High Ropes, Canoeing, and Mountain Biking)
