Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation is the minimum qualification required to work unsupervised in remote outdoor settings. The Certificate IV course also prepares students to work in an instructor capacity where you can then facilitate the transfer of knowledge to clients so that they can then participate in an activity independently. Industry based research across Australia demonstrates that a Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation is the preferred qualification for employment as a leader or guide in the outdoor recreation/education profession.

Candidates must have already completed a Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation or be able to demonstrate equivalent industry experience to be eligible to undertake the course. Students with no prior outdoor recreation qualifications or industry experience should refer to our Certificate III course. Our course commences on Monday 3 February 2020 and finishes in early December 2020. This is a flexible delivery course designed to accommodate students that are already working in industry who would like to gain further skills and knowledge required in order to work as a lead guide in uncontrolled environments and to also work in instructional roles. The course is delivered through a combination of block delivery practical training in the field and classroom workshops. Training occurs in a variety of locations including Lithgow, Blue Mountains, Myall Lakes, Canberra region and the Southern Highlands.
